1937 And 1938 Bentley Roadster And CoupeThe Bentley was created in 1919 by Walter Owen and H.M. Bentley, brothers with a desire to design and build a thoroughbred sports car. Although the company survived as an independent company for only ten years before being bought out by Rolls-Royce, it swiftly rose to the forefront of competitive motor cars. The 2-seat Bentley Roadster pictured is powered by a 110 bhp 4.25 litre in line 6 cylinder engine and a four speed transmission and had a top speed of over 100 mph. The Coupe deVillars of Paris had the same power train with a four speed overdrive transmission. These cars sold for about $15,000 each when they were new.
